The Luxe List: DEWAR'S or Die


Food & Spirits: I've had the rare privilege of sampling DEWAR'S Signature - a sophisticated limited edition whisky that is the culmination of over 150 years of blending experience - and I must say it more than lives up to its reputation as "the ultimate DEWAR'S blend."

With thoroughly aged Aberfeldy Single Malt working in harmony with other exceptionally rare, ultra-fine whiskies ultimately married in vintage oak casks, the result is as sublime, rare and complex as the company suggests.

Remarkably smooth and silky with sweet and fruity undertones, my personal DEWAR'S Signature experience did parallel the company's official tasting notes, which are as follows:

Color: Deep golden amber

Nose: Sweet, balanced, rich and fruity, this is the ultimate expression of Dewar's; Glorious notes of Scottish fudge, coffee crème brûlée and vanilla ice cream drizzled with warm toffee sauce. The aromas develop with nougat, toasted macadamia nut, marzipan and lashings of honey.

Palate: The taste is rich, sweet and long with a velvety, creamy mouthfeel. Butter toffee and honey are predominant with warm winter fruits and mellow tones of sultanas, raisins apples and coconut.

Body: Full bodied and velvety

Finish: A long and complex finish which is smooth and warming.

A strictly limited edition blend, every bottle of DEWAR'S Signature is individually hand numbered to ensure authenticity, quality and exclusivity. The bottle is presented in a beautifully handcrafted, velvet-lined wood box, making it "the" perfect gift for Scotch whisky connoisseurs - or those who simply want to experience the finer things in life.

DEWAR'S Signature retails for $200 and, in my estimation, is worth every penny.
